Storage companies can join the Charity Storage network and allow departing tenants, current tenants, auction buyers, local residents and businesses to donate items to the Charity Storage unit in their local facility. Any donor who gives items receives a tax-deductible receipt. When the storage facility holds public auctions, the Charity Storage unit is sold along with the other units for auction and any revenue earned is allocated to local and national charities.
Charity Storage aims to establish a national network of participating storage facilities that will serve as collection points for goods donated by both tenants and the general public. Donated goods will be stored and later sold during the facilities’ public auctions. StorageTreasures.com, America’s fastest growing website for self storage auction hunters, is a co-sponsor.
